8 HANDED Monkey - Online Portfolio


	Good day dear Sir or Madam or prospective patron that you may well be, allow me to welcome you to the online portfolio of 8 HANDED Monkey, that being the work of Stewart Chapman Esquire. I am a London born, London based artist camouflaged beneath the guise of a graphic/web designer. These masks however are not worn in facade or to mislead, for I am both experienced and proficient in each role, simply that I approach the tasks from a creative’s point of view, an angle that I believe to be key in the creation of innovative and eye catching design, and that has stood me in good stead on both paths thus far in my career.
	The areas in which I work are web design, print, graphic design, photography, portraiture, painting and drawing. I think myself to be best branded as a creative, whether you add the appendage of designer or artist to the label is dependent solely upon the job in hand. When it comes to design I am somewhat of a perfectionist, and have no intention of delivering work that I am not first fully satisfied with myself, I do not take on a project unless I feel sure I can deliver to the best of my abilities.
	Following my study of fine art to degree level which ended in 2003 I went on to study web design part time while working as a portrait artist. In 2004 I took up a position as web designer for a small London based company The Portal Corporation, my role involving the design and creation of SEO heavy sites for the finance and online gambling market. By the end of 2005 I had outgrown the position and began working freelance, still carrying out work for the company but simultaneously undertaking both contract and private work. Between that time and this I have held contracts and undertaken projects for clients such as OyezStraker, Aboud Creative and Paul Smith, working on content management systems, large database driven b2b and b2c sites, as well as promotional micro sites. The stability of such sizable contracts has allowed me the freedom to continue work on my other more creative endeavours.
